Delivering Oxygen: where you want it, when you want it

The simplest way to deliver oxygen using
DynamOx is to turn it on and let 'er rip. Because
the oxygen requirement is rarely known precisely,
this means of operation invariably delivers less
oxygen than is required (and thereby limits the
pollutant degradation) or delivers excess oxygen
(which is therefore wasted). In other well defined
applications (such as groundwater applications),
the DynamOx can be operated in a timed mode. This
allow the DynamOx unit to deliver oxygen for a set
period of time (say 15 minutes) followed by a shut
down period (say 45 minutes). The variations of
the timing sequence are virtually endless. Thus
the delivery periods can vary throughout the day,
throughout the week, through the month, throughout
the year. The advantage of using the timed option
is that the cost of a dissolved oxygen probe can
be avoided. The disadvantage of precluding a DO
probe is that the operator has little knowledge
of the oxygen consumption rate - typically the most
important variable in monitoring the biological
process.
